Advanced reservations are recommended, but not mandatory. Key pick-up should happen between 8:30am-7:00pm Monday-Friday at the Residence Life office, on the 2nd floor of the Health Center, unless arranged with our office ahead of time. Payment should be made prior to check-in at the Office of Residence Life or the student will be billed. The student may pay by check or credit card. Checks should be made out to Simmons College. The office of Residence Life will issue a receipt with payment.
The commuter room is for female students only.
How is the commuter room furnished?
The Mesick Hall commuter room is furnished with a bed for each student, 1 dresser, 1 closet, and 1 desk. Students must provide their own bedding during their stay. A bathroom, vending machines, kitchen, and laundry facilities are available in the same residence hall in which the room is located for the convenience of the commuter students.
What should students bring?
Students should bring everything that they require for an overnight stay including alarm clocks, toothbrush/toothpaste, pillows, towels, soap, shampoo and conditioner, and sheets for a standard twin bed.
What if I am staying on campus several times throughout the semester, is there somewhere to store my bedding?
While we do not allow students to leave items in the room between their stays, you can check out a locker from the Holmes Sports Center to store your items.
What if it is my first time staying in the commuter room?
You will need to fill out a commuter housing application. By doing so, you agree to abide by all policies in the student handbook. Read the Commuter Housing License agreement (PDF) and fill out the commuter room application to reserve the room.

Moving back on campus
If I am currently a commuter and want to move back on campus, what do I need to do?
All current commuters should fill out a housing application and send in a $250 housing deposit. Commuter students are not guaranteed housing. We will try our best to accommodate commuter students once we have completed the resident student housing selections.
