Summer of a Simmons Student!
Summer is over and I have officially started this semester as a junior! What did I spend my summer doing in preparation for junior year? I think I photo tour will help summarize my productive, yet fun summer! Take a look!
First stop: New York City over Memorial Day weekend for my cousin's wedding!
Above is a picture of my family with my cousin (in the center) who made a lovely bride! The wedding festivities in New York City lasted three days and my relatives from all over the United States and the world drove/flew in for the occasion!
Second stop: Newton North High School for my sister's graduation!
Above is a picture of my younger sister, Sarah, all ready to graduate. It was so special watching my sister graduate, and I am so proud of everything that she has accomplished. I am excited to see all the amazing things she will do in college! To celebrate Sarah's achievements and hard work over the years, our family threw her a graduation party which more than 250 family and friends attended!
Third stop: Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA for my research internship!
Above is a picture of thin slices of mouse brain tissue that I sliced and arranged in order before mounting them on slides. I had such an amazing time at the Neurology Lab I was working in at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. I learned so much and got to work with brain tissue of mice, rats, and monkeys!
Fourth stop: Simmons College for summer orientation!
Here is a picture of the Orientation Leaders who are part of the class of 2014. I took about a week and a half off from the lab to welcome the Class of 2016 to Simmons for summer orientation. It was a lot of hard work, but the orientation leaders had lots of fun and bonded throughout. I even got to go kayaking for the first time in my life as part of OL bonding!
Fifth stop: London!
Above is a picture of my cousins, sister, and I on our way to the Olympic Park! My entire family went to London for about 5 days in August and took in all kinds of sights, including those of the Olympics!
Sixth Stop: Italy!
Above is a picture of my sister, brother, and I inside the Colosseum in Rome. My family spent about a week in a half in Italy exploring Rome and Milan. It was scorching hot every day - 95 degrees sunny and humid - but totally worth it! Even my 3 year old brother picked up some Italian!
Seventh and last stop: Simmons College!
Above is a picture of me with my orientation group at Boston Commons! I had a great time with my orientees and fellow orientation leaders during fall orientation before classes started.
