So this is just a little picture of me and my father at a Red Sox game that he took me to! I absolutely loved it, even though we lost, the atmosphere and the people were amazing! I bought myself a shirt as well!

Anyway, so these two weeks are the last weeks of my first-year as a Simmons college student, and I must admit, I'm so busy! There is so much work for me to get done and it seems impossible for me to take a break! Luckily my parents have been really supportive of me, and most of my friends are in the same predicament! I can't wait to be done, but I really don't want to leave Boston. This has become my home. I will miss living right down the road from Fenway Park, being able to hear ambulances almost every hour of the night, and just the overall atmosphere of the Simmons women.
Back to my work!!

Lots of love,

I've never been big on updating the world about my life through numerous daily Facebook statuses or creating a Twitter account, but I am so excited to be writing my own blog! Maybe because "my own blog" sounds more scholarly than "my own tweet" or "a status update"? Nonetheless, I am excited!

I cannot believe that my first year of college is almost over! Time has really flown by! I am anxious about finals and just want the next 3 weeks to be over, however, I am also saddened to be leaving the campus, my friends, and classes for the summer. Besides the warm weather, summer holds exciting new opportunities and promises this year! I will be an Orientation Leader (OL) and am looking forward to meeting the incoming class of 2015. It seems like just yesterday that I was attending my own summer orientation and spending the night in a 95 degree dorm room. I still loved the transition into college life though!

In addition to being an OL, I landed a paid research internship for the summer at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute which I will be starting in June and will be sure to let you know more about soon!

I found out today that I was re-elected Class President of 2014 and am looking forward to another productive and fun year! My Class Council already has 2 events planned for September - a "Welcome Back 2014" event - and a "2014 Welcomes 2015" event! We are also planning to get a Simmons team together to participate in a Walk for Breast Cancer that will be taking place in October.

Okay, well, I have TWO organic chemistry quizzes tomorrow, a lecture quiz and a lab quiz, so I should go review my notes now!

I will be sure to post (blog?) again real soon! Have a great week everyone!

It is 6:47pm and I just got back from our tennis match against MIT. I am still all sweaty!!! Well...we lost today 8-2 unfortunately. But, we are getting ready for the NCAA in May, so we cannnot look back and just learn from our mistakes. Then move forward to improve. We played well, although we could have done much better.

I am personally a little bit disappointed. I did not play as well as I was hoping, therefore I have to work harder. Besides tennis, school is going to be challenging these next two weeks. The Undergraduate Conference is coming up this Friday, and I will be presenting my project on Education. I am really nervous!!! But, the only way it will do well is if I keep working hard. So that's the PLAN!!!! :)

Quote of the day: "Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there" (Will Rogers)

Something I really love about Simmons is the gymnasium we have! It's only a short walk from the dorms, and it's always really nice as a stress reliever. I think I'll get on the bike and lift some weights! Summer is so close. Anyways, just wanted to update you. I might come back, get some homework done, and sit outside in the gorgeous sun today. Happy weekend!

Today, I felt like being thankful for my closest friends at Simmons College.
I left home when I was 17 years old, and it was not easy to adapt to the American culture and environnement because I had no family here.

However, I was blessed to find the right people on my path! When I moved to Boston I was really scared. Fortunately, I met these girls. At first we had those awkward silences in our conversations and those awkward looks when we would see each other in the quad.

Months later I have become comfortable enough to share my life experiences, to laugh without worrying if it was inappropriate, and I was so happy when I would see them. I found people who will deal with my ups and downs and put up with my bad temper. I found amazing girls that I could just call when I had to carry my aunt's boxes (lol). I found girls that I could call at 7 in the morning to tell them about my birthday ideas, and girls that could advise me about my deepest struggles.

Here at Simmons, in a short amount of time, I found FRIENDS I will never want to forget! And I hope all of you guys can find that JOY!!!! :)

Today was the Day of Silence at Simmons College! I wore as much purple as I owned, and wore the badge! Later there is a "Take Back the Night" event where members of Alliance (Simmons' own LGBT group) is meeting and talking! Aside from that, it is a lovely 57 degrees, and was 60 degrees a bit earlier and it was absolutely gorgeous weather! Tomorrow is Friday (amen) and I'm going to my first ever Red Sox game at Fenway Park with my Dad and then going home (New York) for the weekend. Last Monday I fell on my tile floor and got a concussion and had to go the ER so I'm going home to see if rest and my family will help me feel better! Hopefully the lovely weather stays while I'm home!

Anyways, I'm watching some cupcake show on TV sitting in my beanbag chair, just did my class schedule and now moving on to homework to get out of the way!

Lots of love!

Constantly losing things...

Hi viewers! My name is Sandy. If you really know me, you would know that I constantly lose everything. I probably lost and replaced my retainers about seven times now and each time I replace them it is about four hundred dollars. :/

Recently, I misplaced my retainers again! I have three theories as to where they might be. Theory 1: somewhere hidden in my dorm. Theory 2: At my house. Theory 3: At the dump. So, I'm a little frustrated with myself.

I know you must be thinking, duh...just put them in the same spot every time you get up to brush your teeth, but unfortunately for me, it's harder for me to do than say. If I don't find them in the next two weeks, I am going to have to go onto my eighth pair. I am not a happy camper.

serena18.jpg I just have four weeks left at Simmons and it is soon the end of a first journey as a freshman. Everyone is now really stressed with exams, papers, lab practicals.... but hopefully we all found something to release all that stress.

I found it in tennis. This past weekend, we played Endicott College and we had a great win 9-0. We all played great!!! I usually get really frustrated when stuff is not going the way I want them to go.

On saturday, I felt like a new player, because I went out of my comfort zone and focused on myself instead of outside distractions like frustration. I was able to control my emotions no matter if I made a mistake or missed a shot.

My performance was the best so far because I learnt how to accept my mistakes and move on. I AM SO PROUD!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

This is one of the best views in the world! Coming from England, and having traveled quite a bit in Europe, I would choose Boston most often over other cities around the world! This city really makes me happy, and there's always a new thing to do every day! This weekend was a relaxing weekend, had lots of homework and laundry to do! Anyways, it's getting time for me to get back to the homework and reading I have to do!

I'll update you soon!
