Davis Named GNAC Swimming Rookie of the Year
BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons freshman Chloe Davis (Merrimack, N.H.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Swimming Rookie of the Year announced Monday by the conference. Davis was a key contributor for the Sharks all season, who finished 11th at NEISDA Championships and were crowned GNAC Champions for the eighth consecutive year.

Simmons Swimming and Diving Achieve Scholar All America Status
March 1, 2012 BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Swimming and Diving has been named to the Fall 2011 Scholar All America Team announced Wednesday by the College Swim Coaches Association of America. The Sharks made the list with a GPA of 3.31, falling in between neighbors Smith College and Wellesley College.

Sharks Swimming Finishes 11th at New England Championships
February 20, 2012 WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. -- Simmons Swimming and Diving finished 11th out of 22 teams this weekend in the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships held at the Upper Valley Aquatics Center. Leading the Sharks was sophomore Jen Collins (Trumbull, Conn.), who won the 100 IM event in a new school record time of 1:02.21, the first Simmons swimmer to win a New England event since records were kept.

Swimming and Diving to Compete in NEISDA Championships
February 16, 2012 BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Swimming and Diving will travel to White River Junction, Vt. to compete in the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships at the Upper Valley Aquatics Center this weekend, beginning Friday, February 17th. The Sharks had 14 swimmers qualify for the Championships this year.

Simmons Edges PSU in Swimming and Diving
February 3, 2012 PLYMOUTH, N.H. –Simmons College showcased their superior depth Saturday afternoon defeating the Panthers, 148.5-131.5, in a women’s swimming and diving meet at the PSU Natatorium. It was a close meet the entire way, and PSU pulled ahead by two points, 123.5-121.5, with two events remaining. The Sharks captured the final two races to pull out the meet, wrapping up their regular season at 8-4, while PSU finishes the dual meet season with a 4-7 mark.

Sharks Top Western New England
January 29, 2012 SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore Amy Davis (Southbury, Conn.) won two events as the Simmons Swimming and Diving team posted a 173-89 victory over Western New England Sunday afternoon at the Alumni Healthful Living Center. Sharks Slide by Westfield State in Final Heat
January 25, 2012 BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Swimming and Diving finished first and second in the 200 Freestyle Relay to overtake the Westfield State University Owls 150-144 in the final event of the meet Wednesday evening at the Holmes Sports Center. Sharks and Cadets Capture 2011 GNAC Championship Titles

Sharks Sweep in Home Opener
November 5, 2011 BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Swimming and Diving swept their first meet of the season against the Gordon College Fighting Scots 96-30, and the Elms College Blazers 69-58, Saturday afternoon at the Holmes Sports Center. The Blazers defeated the Fighting Scots 87-34. The Sharks also hosted a dual men’s meet between the Blazers and Fighting Scots, with the Blazers defeating Gordon College, 138-89.

2011-2012 Swimming & Diving Season Preview
The Simmons Swimming and Diving team will open their 2011-2012 season this Saturday against Westfield State College and are looking to build upon their momentum from last season. After a disappointing first half of the 2010 season, the Sharks refocused during a mid-season training camp and were unstoppable for the remainder of the season, culminating in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship.

Sharks Earn 2010-11 GNAC Academic All-Conference Honors
June 29, 2011 The Great Northeast Athletic Conference recognized 598 student-athletes from 16 league sports on the 2010-11 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference Team. 46 Simmons athletes received the honor, and all seven of the Simmons varsity programs sponsored by the GNAC were represented on this year’s Academic All-Conference Team.

Swimming & Diving 2010-11 Season Review
February 28, 2011 Simmons Swimming & Diving closes out the 2010-11 season with another Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship title, the team’s ninth win in ten years. The Sharks struggled with some first semester losses, but returned from their January training trip to Puerto Rico strong and hungry for wins. The Sharks lost their first battle with Mount Holyoke, but went on to win the remainder of the second semester dual meets, finishing 5-5. The season culminated at New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships (NEISDA) with 14 individual qualifiers accumulating 376.5 points to finish in 13th place.

Sharks Place 13th, Earn Sportsmanship Award at NEISDA
February 22, 2011 Simmons Swimming and Diving swam to a 13th place team points finish at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Championships this weekend at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center. Out of 32 individual Simmons entries, 27 athletes had season-best times, culminating in a new school record of 56.15 in the 100 Free by freshman Jen Collins (Trumbull, Conn.). Simmons also took home the Steve Looke Sportsmanship Award, which is awarded after a vote by all NEISDA coaches.

Simmons Captures 2010 GNAC Swimming & Diving Championship
December 5, 2010 The Sharks of Simmons College took home their ninth Great Northeast Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving title in ten years in Sunday night’s finale of the two-day championship event. Simmons finished the meet with 270 points, ahead of Elms (216), Saint Joseph CT (206), Saint Joseph’s ME (76), Norwich (75) and Husson (54). Nine GNAC records fell over the course of the meet, which featured 100 athletes from the six GNAC teams.

Sharks to Swim Hour of Power for Sarcoma Awareness
November 10, 2010 Simmons Swimming & Diving is set to participate in the fifth annual Hour of Power Relay, a nationwide swimming event held annually to raise cancer awareness, on Thursday, November 11, 2010. Athletes Honored at Annual Evening of Champions Awards Ceremony
Five student athletes were honored and one alumna was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the Department of Athletics’ annual Evening of Champions awards ceremony on May 5, 2010. At the end of each academic year, athletes from each Simmons varsity team are recognized for their academic and athletic achievements. Five individual awards concluded the evening to distinguish the athletes that stood out among their peers during the year.

Swimming & Diving 2009-10 Season In Review
March 15, 2010 Simmons Swimming & Diving captured the 2009 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship for the sixth year in a row, and earned an eighth place finish at the 2010 New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships. The young team was consistent in dual meets, as Simmons swam to wins against opponents the Sharks defeated last season, and suffered closer losses to opponents who defeated them one year ago. “Rookies made up the majority of our roster this year, which made it a fun and unpredictable season,” said Head Coach Mindy Williams. Of the nine freshmen on the 2009-2010 squad, six of them qualified for New Englands, and all of them made significant contributions to team points throughout the season.

Sharks Outstanding at NEISDA Championships
March 1, 2010 Simmons Swimming and Diving captured eighth place out of twenty-two teams with 339 points at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Championships on February 21. The Sharks set five program records and finished three spots higher and with 78 more points than the 2009 meet—the highest program finish for Simmons at New England’s since the 2003 season.

Dirksmeier Breaks Diving Record in Loss to Lyons, 161-128
January 16, 2010 Simmons diver Amanda Dirksmeier (Marshfield, Mass.) achieved a new pool and team record in her 3-Meter springboard victory on Saturday afternoon. Dirksmeier’s new mark of 223.00 betters the program record of 220.35, set in 2001 by Sarah Brown, and the pool record of 2:19.15, set in 2009. Despite the loss to NEWMAC opponent Mount Holyoke, the Sharks swam well in their first meet since returning from winter training in Sarasota, Fla.

Sharks Claim 2009 GNAC Swimming & Diving Championship
December 6, 2009 Boston, Mass.-- Simmons Swimming & Diving was named the 2009 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Champion on Sunday night, as the Sharks finished the two-day championship meet with 305 team points. The win, Simmons’ sixth in a row, and eighth in nine years, capped a weekend where 10 GNAC and two pool records fell in one of the fastest GNAC meets in conference history. King Smashes Pool, Team Record in 1-Meter Diving
November 20, 2009 Simmons Diving freshman Kaira King (Las Vegas, Nev.) destroyed the pool and program mark in the 1-meter springboard diving event, and the Simmons 200 Free Relay of Virginia Bette (Southbury, Conn.), Alyssa Musket (Lincoln, R.I.), Nellie Jackson (Dorchester, Mass.) and Brittany Torelli (Waterbury, Conn.) set a new pool record of 1:47.60. Simmons Swimming and Diving battled Wellesley College at home on Friday, falling to the Blue, 161-128, despite the two record performances.

Freshman Swimmer Musket Shatters Pool, Team Record
October 31, 2009 Simmons freshman Alyssa Musket (Lincoln, R.I.) lowered the Simmons pool and program record for the 50-yard Free on Saturday afternoon. Musket’s 25.09 broke the team mark of 25.55, set in 1995 by Tara Spellissy, and the Pool mark of 25.80, set by Spellissy in 1993. The swim came during the Sharks’ season and home opener against the Westfield State Owls, who went home with the 161-130 win.

Swimming & Diving 2009-10 Season Preview
October 29, 2009 Simmons Swimming & Diving is preparing to open the 2009-10 season and return to competition after a successful 2008-09 campaign. Last winter, the Sharks captured the 2008 GNAC Championship—the fifth title in a row for Simmons, and the seventh in eight years for the program. Simmons also finished in 11th place at the NEISDA Championships, after qualifying a record 13 athletes for the meet. Second-year Head Coach Mindy Williams, the 2008-09 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Swimming Coach of the Year, will look to lead the Sharks to another conference title in 2009, and another strong showing at New Englands. Williams and the Sharks will push for a strong dual meet season, and aim to remain undefeated in the conference.

Swimming & Diving 2008-09 Season In Review
Simmons Swimming & Diving finished the 2008-09 season with great success in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, and some hard-fought battles outside the conference. The Sharks roster carried five divers, the most in program history, which gave the team a lift in tough dual-meet competition. Simmons ended the season with a GNAC Championship title for the fifth year in a row, and a GNAC meet record in the 1650-yard Freestyle from departing senior Keri-Ann Arsenault (Chester, N.H.), who was also named the GNAC Swimmer of the Year for the second straight season. The Sharks were led by captains Arsenault and Julia Morrison (West Hartford, Conn.) in 2008-09. “These two women did everything right this season and demonstrated great commitment and work ethic, which was mimicked by their teammates,” said Williams, who was named GNAC Women’s Swimming & Diving Coach of the Year by her peers after just one year at the helm of the Simmons program.

Simmons Competes at 2009 New England Swimming and Diving Championships
February 20, 2009 The Simmons Sharks will field a team of thirteen qualifiers at the 2009 New England Swimming and Diving Championships, held at UMass Dartmouth’s Tripp Athletic Center Natatorium from Friday through Sunday, February 22. Captains Keri-Ann Arsenault and Julia Morrison will return for their fourth year of competition at the Championships, along with fellow senior teammate Erica Boswell, to lead the Sharks this weekend.

Swimming & Diving Celebrates Senior Day in Loss to Plymouth State, 160-135
February 7, 2009 Simmons Swimming & Diving honored the collegiate careers of five departing senior swimmers on Saturday, but the Sharks were unable to overcome Plymouth State University in the 160-135 loss.

Swimming & Diving Rocks Regis, 112-68
February 3, 2009 Simmons Swimming & Diving secured a win over Regis College on Tuesday, 112-68, in a dominant fashion, proving they have been hard at work under first-year Head Coach Mindy Williams. With the win, the Sharks improve to 5-5 as they approach the end of the season, and with it, the New England Championships on February 20-22, 2009.

Arsenault Named GNAC Swimmer of the Week
February 3, 2009 Senior Swimming & Diving captain Keri-Ann Arsenault (Chester, N.H.) was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week, the GNAC announced on Monday. This is the third time Arsenault has received the Swimmer of the Week award since the start of the 2008-09 season.

Two Swimmers Receive GNAC Weekly Honors
December 10, 2008 Simmons senior Keri-Ann Arsenault (Chester, N.H.) was named GNAC Swimmer of the Week, and sophomore Chennelle Jackson (Dorchester, Mass.) received GNAC Honor Roll mention this week, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference announced on Tuesday.

Three GNAC Records Fall as Simmons is Crowned 2008 Swimming & Diving Champions
December 7, 2008 Simmons College Swimming & Diving was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Champion of 2008. The win, Simmons’ fifth in a row, and seventh in eight years, capped the two-day meet. More than 100 athletes from the conference’s seven teams gathered at the Simmons College Holmes Sports and Fitness Center to race for the championship title.

November 17, 2008 Simmons Swimming & Diving placed fourth out of seven teams this weekend at the Regis College Invitational. The meet was highlighted by strong performances from the divers and some exciting finishes from the swimmers, with the team collecting 570 points.

Swimming and Diving 2008-09 Season Preview
The Simmons Swimming and Diving team is poised to enter its first season under Head Coach Mindy Williams. Williams joined the Sharks in July 2008 following the retirement of longtime coach Doug Backlund, who headed the program for 11 years.

Masters Swimming World Records Set at Simmons October Swim Fest
Simmons College Swimming and Diving hosted the inaugural October Swim Fest , a Masters swimming mini-meet, on Saturday, October 18. Masters swimmers ranging from age 20 to 75 descended on the Holmes Sports Center Natatorium for the competition. Many local teams, including Jumbo Aquatics, BC, Wellelsey, Cambridge, ABC Sharks and, of course, Simmons Masters, were in attendance, in addition to swimmers from Maine and New Hampshire.

Swimming & Diving 2007-2008 Season in Review
The Simmons College swimming and diving team had one of its most successful seasons in the program's history in 2006-07. The Sharks took home their fifth Great Northeast Athletic Conference championship in the past six years, won the Regis Invitational for the first time and posted a 9-1 mark in dual meets, besting the existing school standard.
