Mindy Williams begins her fourth year as Head Coach of Swimming and Diving at Simmons. During the 2010-11 season, Coach Williams led the Sharks to their seventh consecutive GNAC title, and ninth in ten years. The team finished 13th out of 22 teams at the New England Championship, and was honored with the Association’s Team Sportsmanship Award. During Coach Williams' tenure, the Sharks have broken eight school records, six pool records and six GNAC records. She served as the NEISDA (New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association) President in 2009-2010.
Coach Williams joined the Simmons coaching staff after a four years as Head Swim Coach and Aquatics Director at Regis College in Weston, MA, where she continually grew the women’s swimming and diving program and built a solid foundation for the first-ever men’s swimming and diving team.
Coach Williams, a native of Vermont, received her undergraduate degree in 2003 from Colby College. While at Colby, she competed at the varsity level for four years and was an NCAA qualifier in 2000 and 2003. She won All-NESCAC honors in the 1650, 500 and 200 freestyle relay and served as team captain her senior year.
Coach Williams started her career as the assistant coach of both swimming and water polo at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn.
Williams continues to swim at the Masters level, serving on the board of New England Masters. During the 2010 season, she earned National Top-Ten recognition in the 1650 yard free, 400 meter Freestyle, 800 meter Freestyle, 200 meter Butterfly and 200 meter Breaststroke. She earned All-American status for a first place finish in the 3000 yard Long Distance Championship.
In addition to her coaching duties, Coach Williams also serves as the department’s Aquatics Director.
