Sherren Granese is entering her fourth year as Assistant Athletic Director at Simmons College. Granese is responsible for home game operations, preseason planning and season scheduling, as well as coordinating game-day officials. She is also the Director of the Simmons Swim and Sports School.
Prior to her arrival at Simmons College, Granese was the Head Field Hockey coach at Boston College from 1987-2005. During that time, she led the program to an overall record of 194-160-6. She was named the NCAA Regional Field Hockey Coach of the Year in 1994, and Big East Coach of the Year in 1998. Granese led BC Field Hockey to Big East Tournament Championships in '94, '97, '03; Big East Regular Season Championship in '98 and '03; and made five NCAA Tournament appearances ('94, '97, '98, '03, '04).
Under Granese's leadership, forty-seven of her student-athletes were named Big East Academic All-Stars, and one was named Big East Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 1998. Two of her players received the prestigious NCAA post-graduate scholarship award. Granese also coached two field hockey athletes that were members of the US National and Junior National teams.
Granese also served as the Head Lacrosse Coach for Boston College from 1987-1995. During her time with the Eagles, she served on and chaired various NCAA Field Hockey and Lacrosse Committees. In addition to her collegiate coaching duties, she was the owner and Director of the All Start Field Hockey Camp, located in Springfield, MA, from 1995-2007.
Granese began her collegiate coaching career as an assistant for both the Field Hockey and Lacrosse programs at the University of New Hampshire, where she also taught physical education classes in racquetball and squash.
A 1982 Field Hockey All-American, Granese played both Field Hockey and Lacrosse at Springfield College. She was a member of the US Junior National Team and National Squad from 1980-83. She participated and won medals in the 1981 and 1982 Olympic Sports Festival.
Granese graduated magna cum laude from Springfield College, and holds a BS in Physical Education and Sports Management.
