Sharks Soccer Devours Mount Ida Mustangs, 2-0

September 30, 2008 Simmons Soccer picked up their second GNAC win against Mount Ida Tuesday afternoon, with a final score of 2-0. The Sharks improve to 3-6-1 and 2-2 in the GNAC.

Simmons Defeated by Emmanuel, 2-1, in Overtime

The Simmons College soccer team fell to Emmanuel, 2-1, in overtime on Wednesday night at the Winsor School Field. Sophomore Anna Stella (Sharon, Mass.) scored the lone goal for the Sharks, but it was not enough to stop the Saints. With the loss, Simmons falls to 2-6-2 overall (GNAC, 1-2) while Emmanuel improves to 4-3 overall (GNAC, 2-0).

Simmons Soccer Falls to Lasell 3-2

Simmons College soccer fell to GNAC foe Lasell College on Saturday afternoon. Freshman midfielder Jordynn Frollo assisted on two consecutive goals to pace the Lasers. Sophomores Anya Bottaro (Winchester, Mass.) and Brooke MacKenzie (Mansfield, Mass.) both scored goals for the Sharks. With the loss, Simmons falls to 2-5-1 (GNAC 1-1), while Lasell improves to 2-3 (GNAC 1-2).

Soccer Drops Match to MIT, 1 - 0

The game was tied 0 - 0 at halftime, with Simmons goalkeeper Rachel Elliott (Amherst, NH) making two strong saves to keep MIT off the board in the first half. The Engineers scored in the 50th minute off a cross from the right side from Liz Theurer to Edith Reshef, who made a streaking run on the weakside far post.

Soccer Falls to Wentworth in 2008 Season Opener

August 30, 2008 BOSTON, MA - The Simmons Soccer team lost their first match of the season, 0-2, to Wentworth Institute of Technology. Both Wentworth goals were scored by Lucy Brown, a freshman midfielder from Plainville, CT.

In a reversal of roles from the day before, Simmons Soccer attacked Sunday's home and GNAC opener against Albertus Magnus College, and came out with the 2-1 win over the Falcons.

Soccer 2008 Season Preview

Simmons Soccer is poised to start their third year under Head Coach Erica Mastrogiacomo. The 2007 season saw the Sharks finish with a competitive Great Northeast Athletic Conference record of 7-4-2. Only one opponent succeeded in beating Simmons by more than one goal, and four conference games were pushed to a decision in overtime.

Soccer 2007-2008 Season in Review

The Simmons College soccer squad turned in a solid year in the revamped Great Northeast Athletic conference, that included an 8-9-2 overall record, and a 7-4-2 GNAC record that was good for sixth place in the conference, and a berth in the postseason tournament.
