30th Anniversary Boat Naming Ceremony & Reception - October 17, 2008

After a successful year-long fund raising campaign to mark the 30th anniversary of the program, Simmons Crew will be dedicating our brand new 8-person racing shell at the beginning of Parents Weekend and Head of the Charles Regatta weekend.

The Simmons Crew varsity women took home the gold for the second year in a row in the Women's Club 8+ event at the Textile River Regatta. The Sharks traveled to Lowell, MA on Sunday for their fall season debut, and placed in the top three in each event they entered.

Simmons Crew to Open Fall Season at Textile River Regatta

October 3, 2008 Simmons Crew is poised to enter fall head racing season after one of the most successful seasons in program history in 2007-08. The 2008-09 season holds much promise for the young team, which graduated only two seniors from the Varsity crew in the spring.

Nicole Richards '08, a four-year rower and three-year captain for Simmons Crew, was named to CoSIDA's Academic All-District First Team, presented by ESPN The Magazine.

Tripician '96 Takes Bronze at World Rowing Championships

Wendy Campanella Tripician '96 (Needham, MA) took home bronze in the Women's Lightweight Quadruple Sculls event on the final day of the 2008 FISA World Rowing Championships, held July 20-27 in Linz-Ottensheim, Austria.

With the banks of the Charles River less than a mile from the College, Simmons women have enjoyed the city's rich tradition of competitive rowing since 1978. Experienced rowers compete at the varsity level, while newcomers to the sport can learn the rudiments of rowing on the novice team. The Sharks race during the fall and spring semesters - practicing out of the Riverside boathouse during the warmer months and at the William J. Holmes Sports Center in the winter using Simmons's indoor rowing tanks.

Each October the team competes with rowers from around the globe in the Head of the Charles Regatta, the largest single-day regatta in the world, held right here in Boston.
