Head Basketball Coach Tony Price will be interviewed live on the WBNW - 1120 AM - Boston's "Focus on
Empowerment" radio show Friday, August 8 from 11:40am - noon, EDT. Host Carole Copeland Thomas will conduct
the discussion.
Copeland Thomas has asked Price to discuss his blog, "The Darker
Shade of Sports," and the future of blogging in cyberspace. Price created the blog as an outlet for his
thoughts on how the adult generation influences young people, and the importance of sending the right
messages to the next generation of African American leaders. "My goal is to get people to think critically
about life, through the context of sports," said Price.
"Focus on Empowerment" is a weekly issues-oriented call-in radio talk show that examines the opportunities
and challenges of personal development and life enhancement both on and off the job. The show will simulcast
online during the first airing, and is scheduled to
re-broadcast on Saturday, August 9 from 1-2 pm, and on Sunday, August 10 from 1-2 pm.
Coach Price is entering his ninth year as Head Basketball Coach and Assistant Athletic Director at Simmons
College. The winningest coach in the program's history, Price was named the Great Northeast Athletic
Conference Coach of the Year in 2003, and was a recipient of the 2007 Heights Award, given to individuals who
have made significant contributions to the development and advancement of women's sports.
