Tripician '96 to Represent US at 2008 World Rowing Championships

Former Simmons College athlete Wendy Campanella Tripician '96 has earned a spot on the US National Team roster that will compete at the 2008 FISA World Rowing Championships in Linz-Ottensheim, Austria, July 22-27. Tripician, along with Vesper Boat Club teammates Libby Peters (New Hartford, N.Y.), Rebecca Smith (Torrington, Conn.) and Hannah Moore (Niskayuna, N.Y.), will compete in the Lightweight Women's Quadruple Sculls (LW4x).

The crew earned their spot on the team at the 2008 World Championship Trials, winning the LW4x event in a time of 6:47.06, more than seven seconds ahead of the entry from Pocock Rowing Center. The trials were held June 24-26 on Lake Mercer in West Windsor, NJ.

Tripician is a four-time National Team member. Some recent rowing accomplishments include a fourth-place finish in the lightweight double sculls at the 2007 FISA World Cup in Lucerne; bronze in the lightweight double sculls at the 2007 FISA World Cup in Amsterdam; seventh in the Lightweight Quad at the 2006 FISA World Championships in Gifu, Japan; gold at the 2005 Head of the Charles in the Lightweight Women's single; bronze in the lightweight quadruple sculls at the FISA World Rowing Championships in 2002.

Tripician, a three-year member of the Simmons Crew Team, earned her undergraduate degree in 1996, and received her graduate degree from the Simmons School for Health Studies in 2002.
