Simmons Crew Ranked Thirteenth in the Nation

The Simmons College crew program earned a spot in the national rankings this week, as the Sharks Varsity Eight boat was ranked thirteenth in the nation, according to the US Rowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Coaches Division III poll (CRCA).
The Sharks Varsity Eight composed of coxswain Nicole Gallant (Scotia, N.Y.), stroke Whitney Airgood (Simsbury, Conn.), Elizabeth Schwarz (Hanover, N.H.), Nicole Richards (Dover, N.H.), Jen Dubois (Somersworth, N.H.), Rachel Franchi (Athol, Mass.), Lauren Searls (Rochester, N.Y.), Caitlin Urciuoli (Wethersfield, Conn.), and bow Bridget Huxford (Skaneateles, N.Y.) completed their regular season with two wins over twelfth ranked crew Wellesley College.
Simmons only losses were to top ten teams, No. 2 Williams College, No. 3 Bates College and No. 9 Tufts University. Against Tufts, Simmons varsity eight crew finished just 0.34 seconds behind.
Additionally this spring, the Sharks Varsity Eight defeated Amherst College, Clark University, Connecticut College (twice), Franklin Pierce University, Skidmore College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI).
The Sharks will travel to Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, MA this weekend for the New England Rowing Championships.
