Field Hockey Players Earn Academic Honors

The Simmons College field hockey team had a solid season on the field this past fall, but in the classroom the Sharks proved to be elite. Nine members of the team were honored last week as members of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Academic squad. There were nine members of the squad honored including, Sam Green (Bridgewater, Mass. 3.58 GPA), Austyn Joaquin (Dartmouth, Mass. 3.75 GPA), Kelsey Lapenas (Southwick, Mass. 3.50 GPA), Christine Lowery (Wilder, Vt. 3.41 GPA), Kara Masse, (Portland, Maine 3.91 GPA), Jill McCarthy (Mashpee, Mass. 3.31 GPA), Vanessa Murphy (Sanford, Maine 3.58 GPA), Emily Sypher (Orono, Maine 3.77 GPA), and Jen Szkolt (Bondsville, Mass. 3.61 GPA). The Sharks were also among the honorees for teams with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
