The Simmons College basketball team has completed its regular season and now has its eyes on a big prize. The Great Northeast Athletic Conference tournament begins on Tuesday night, and the Sharks have the biggest fish in the water in their sights in the opening round, as they must travel across the street to take on perennial power, Emmanuel. The Saints are the top seed this year, by virtue of their GNAC regular season championship. The two teams met in January at Emmanuel with the Saints taking an 83-56 victory. Simmons has been playing very well of late closing the regular season with a 6-3 run over its final nine games. Sophomore Stephanie Fox has really picked up the pace averaging double figures in points and rebounds over that stretch, while juniors Lauren Kreckie and Sarah Clayton have each produced some big games in the scoring column of late. Simmons will have to be at its best to pull off the upset, as Emmanuel has the second leading scorer in the conference in Iman Davis, and they are tops in scoring offense, and fourth in scoring defense. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. at the Jean Yawkey Center on the campus of Emmanuel.
