A pair of Simmons College basketball players have been invited to play in Australia this summer and represent the United States. Junior Lauren Kreckie (Braintree, Mass.) and freshman Morgan Johnson (Waterbury, Conn.) were invited last week to participate in the compete in the Queen's Birthday Basketball Tournament in Melbourne from June 2nd-14th. USA Athletes International will sponsor the trip that will include 10 players who will compete in the 12 day tournament. Simmons basketball has sent players overseas in the past including last season when junior Sarah Clayton (Falmouth, Mass.) played in Italy. Two years ago a trio of Sharks played internationally when Kristen Lucek, Jen Caron, and Kristen Fucarile competed in tournaments abroad. "This shows that even in small schools opportunities can come to those who work hard," said Simmons basketball coach Tony Price.
