Member of the 1899 Leadership Society Stays Connected to College
Lucy Pastore McCarthy ’91 says that since graduating, she’s “always wanted to stay connected to the College.”
She’s done this through her service as a member of the Board of Trustees and the 1899 Leadership Society.
“The deans across the College really took me under their wings and I made lifelong friendships there. I was able to study international business, and I’m lucky to have worked in that industry.”
McCarthy has held executive-level positions for top firms, including Gartner, Forrester, and Grand Circle. She has managed global client relationships, led sales teams, and advised clients across high-tech and telecom enterprises to professional services firms to technology investors.
“One of the best things about Simmons was that I was encouraged to take on leadership positions. Those helped shape me.”
McCarthy says she supports Simmons because women’s colleges are important incubators of leadership skills, as they foster “a safe, encouraging place to try things out and grow. I developed a strong inner voice at Simmons, and students today need to do the same to come forward as leaders themselves.”
