Danielle Dreger

Danielle Dreger, '04LS, published her first Young Adult novel, SECRET HEART, in October 2016 to glowing reviews. Kirkus called SECRET HEART, "A well-constructed foray into the world of high school dating. It has become an Amazon bestseller. SECRET HEART is a LGBTQ teen romantic comedy set in Florida that is centered around a GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) and the Unprom they throw. A portion of all book sales goes to support the Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network because Dreger is a firm believer that all students should have a safe space in schools. Dreger frequently speaks at GSA clubs in high schools. Dreger is a Teen Librarian in Seattle, Washington.Her short stories have recently appeared in The Dime Show Review and 200 cc's. Her essays have recently been featured on Mom.me and The Creative Truth Journal. Dreger, is also a contributor to Preemie Babies 101, the official blog for the Hand2Hold Organization. She is currently working on a new YA novel.

Em Claire Knowles

Dr. Em Claire Knowles ’88DA, Assistant Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs of Simmons SLIS, has been appointed to the board of Beta Phi Mu at a meeting on Saturday, June 25 at the American Library Association Annual Conference 2016 in Orlando, FL.  Knowles has served as advisor to the Beta Beta Chapter of Beta Phi Mu for 19 years.
