Alumnae/i Associations and Boards

The Alumnae/i Associations represent and serve the alumnae/i of Simmons University and its graduate schools. The purpose of the associations is to strengthen the alumnae/i relationship with each other and the schools to help ensure the success of Simmons University academically, professionally, and financially.

African American Alumnae/i Association (AAAA)

The mission of the African American Alumnae/i Association (AAAA) is to represent and serve all African American and African descended alumnae/i of Simmons University in order to serve and advance the interests of Simmons University and to support African descended alumnae/i and students. We foster a spirit of fellowship among alumnae/i, students, faculty and administrators, and preserve the history and celebrate the accomplishments of the University and its alumnae/i.

School of Library and Information Science Alumni Association

The SLIS Alumni Association mission is to represent and serve the alumni of the School of Library & Information Science. The Association wishes to maintain an interest in recruiting qualified individuals into librarianship and related information and knowledge professions, raise funds for scholarships, and promote mentoring, continuing education, professional development, and leadership.

School of Management Alumnae/i Association (SOMAA)

The purpose of this Association is to meet the ongoing educational needs of the alumnae/i of the Simmons School of Management. The goals and objectives of the organization include:

  • To serve the professional and educational career aims of the alumnae/i of the School of Management.
  • To promote other goals that will benefit the interests of alumna/us and women in the business community at large.

School of Social Work Alumnae/i Association

The purpose of this Association is to build an engaged alumnae/i community, to develop special programs and alumnae/i events, to assist in student recruitment and other activities of the Board and School, and to promote the values and standards of the profession.

Simmons University Board of Trustees

The Trustees are the ultimate fiduciaries of Simmons University. They oversee all of Simmons’s institutional affairs in accordance with the University's charter, bylaws, evolving statements of mission and purpose, and strategic plan. The Board of Trustees is responsible for governance of the University and for monitoring the implementation of its policies.

Undergraduate Alumnae Association

This Alumnae Association represents and serves all undergraduate alumnae/i of Simmons University. The purpose of the association is to strengthen alumnae/i relationships with the University in order to serve and advance the interests of Simmons and to support undergraduate alumnae/i.

The Association is governed by an elected executive board and works in partnership with the Office of Advancement and Alumnae/i Relations to carry out the Association's mission. The executive board is made up of approximately 15 undergraduate alumnae/i directors and seeks nominations for open positions each spring. Directorships are offered in disciplines ranging from communications, student outreach, awards, and diversity, equity and inclusion.

University Advisory Council and Dean's Advisory Councils

In collaboration with the Provost, Deans, and Office of Advancement, Simmons established the University Advisory Council, which is formed by four Dean’s Advisory Councils representing each of Simmons’ Colleges. The Dean’s Advisory Councils inform the future vision of each of the Colleges and the roles they play in our society. The goal of each Council is to help guide the direction of the work of the deans and the work of each College through the shared perspective of a group of leadership volunteers, including but not limited to our alumnae/i.
