Simmons undergraduates in the Women in Materials program
have the opportunity to participate in professional research with faculty. Other
opportunities include participating in national science conferences,
summer employment, and a summer research course at Cornell
University.

Participate as a member of a collaborative research
team. Research awards of
up to $900 per semester are available.

Travel with faculty to national scientific meetings to present your
research results.

Work in a high-tech industry during the summer.

Learn to use advanced instruments at the Cornell Center for Materials
Research during a weeklong summer workshop.

Take part in in Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU). (REU is a program funded by the National Science Foundation and offered at a number of research universities around the country.) WIM students have had a remarkable success rate for admission into these programs. For example, WIM students have recently attended summer programs at Columbia University, University of Washington, John Hopkins University, and Cornell University.
