» requirements for graduation

The richness and diversity of the Simmons curriculum ensures that every student can explore a variety of subjects while gaining an in-depth, theoretical, and practical understanding of her major. Departments and programs strongly emphasize career preparation within a liberal arts context.

Graduation requirements are flexible and encourage each student to develop a program suited to her individual interests and career plans. Students may select a major after completion of two semesters (32 semester hours) and must declare a major upon completion of five semesters (80 semester hours) of full-time study. Students may also choose a minor (at least 20 semester hours in a department or program).

The faculty believes that all students benefit from academic experiences that enhance skills like writing, technological proficiency, and cultural understanding, all of which are integrated significantly into each departmentÕs curriculum. These common areas of study help Simmons students acquire qualities and strengths to help them succeed in an increasingly complex, competitive global society Ñ and give them the confidence to pursue the career of their choice.
