Simmons offers an accredited pre-medical program that provides strong preparation for admission to dental, medical, optometry, podiatry or veterinary medical schools.
Undergraduate preparation for these medical professions includes a solid foundation in the natural sciences and a background in the social sciences and humanities. Admission requirements can be fulfilled within the context of any liberal arts or science major at Simmons.
The health professions advisor, Mary Owen, Ph.D., will assist students with program planning and with the application process. Students who are interested in these medical professions should meet with Dr. Owen to discuss their interests and academic plan, as well as the application process and requirements for admission.
Alumnae Comments
"There are many things that I loved about my undergraduate experience at Simmons, but one of the highlights was the strong community of female scientists. In my studies at Simmons, both in the classroom and the laboratory, I discovered a great love for research, and gained a solid background in both the sciences and humanities. This background prepared me well for my application to and acceptance into medical school. I am now a 3rd year student at the Northwestern University Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP), where I am earning my M.D. and Ph.D." — Jessica Queen, S'05.
