Programs in Nutrition Seminars
Each semester the Programs in Nutrition hosts seminars on various topics in the nutrition, food science or food service fields. These seminars are open to the general nutrition community in the greater Boston area. All undergraduate nutrition concentrators are required to attend.

Community service projects
The Programs in Nutrition and the Nutrition Liaison lead and participate in many community service events, including:
Food Drives for the Boston City Hospital Failure to Thrive Clinic
Sponsoring a booth at the Simmons Community Outreach Halloween Party for Inner City Youth
Working with Project Bread to create a Simmons Team at the Walk for Hunger
Running a Nutrition Awareness Month every March

The Simmons College Programs in Nutrition maintains a Food Science laboratory with equipment such as a Hydrogen Breath Analyzer, Warner-Bratzler Shear and Nutrition Analysis Software.Internships, field work placements, foreign study options

Post-graduate opportunities
After graduation from the undergraduate program in nutrition students move on to a variety of experiences. Among these are careers in research, industry, education, health care, government and entrepreneurial enterprises. In addition to entering the work force, many students choose to continue their education. Simmons College offers a Masters degree in Nutrition and Health Promotion, as well as a Dietetic Internship as graduate education programs. Those students who participate in the Dietetic Internship take graduate level classes and are placed in fieldwork positions at locations such as:

Massachusetts Department of Public Health
Neighborhood health centers
Acute care hospitals
Harvard Vanguard Health Centers
Long term care facilities
