Major in Nursing
Second Degree Program
This program is for the student who has graduated from an accredited baccalaureate program in an area other than nursing.
RN-BS Program
This program is for the student who has graduated from an accredited nursing program, is a registered nurse, and has a diploma in nursing or an associate degree in nursing.
RN-MS Program
This program is for the student who has graduated from an accredited nursing program, is a registered nurse, and has a diploma in nursing or an associate degree in nursing.

Second Degree Program
This program is for the student who has graduated from an accredited baccalaureate program in an area other than nursing. The accepted student may apply up to 80 transfer/challenge, or credit for prior learning credits towards the Simmons Degree. A minimum of 48 credits must be completed at Simmons College. A total of 128 credits are required for the Bachelor of Science Degree.
Prerequisites
Generally speaking these include the following sciences (with laboratory sessions) and social science courses:
Chemistry: Inorganic and Organic
Biology: I and II (may be waived in certain situations)
Anatomy & Physiology: I and II
Microbiology
Intro to Psychology
Growth and Development
If the student chooses, she may take Intro to Psychology, Growth and Development, Microbiology and A&P concurrent with her first two nursing courses at Simmons College.
Students with a baccalaureate degree in an area other than nursing may enter the nursing program as Dix Scholars. Students who wish to become nurse practitioners may apply to the Direct Entry Program, School for Health Studies.
Once all prerequisites have been met, Dix Scholar students may begin taking Nurs 225
