The Program Director provides individual guidance to the student throughout the search for an internship. The Director reviews students interests, strengths and experience and provides each student with a list of appropriate internship sites. The Director facilitates weekly professional development seminars which further enhance each student's exposure to different internship experiences. Outside speakers also contribute to the student's exposure and understanding of the roles of communicators in different industries.
Director's Responsibilities
- Acts as a representative of the College to coordinate the program
- Provides the direction and supervision in the interviewing process for internship positions.
- Approves final internship placement of the intern with a sponsor
- Provides direction and supervision to the intern throughout the internship through individual conferences, professional issues seminars, and a visit to the work site.
- Evaluates written assignments, progress reports, and work samples submitted by the intern.
- Assesses the duties and work activities of the intern in order to monitor the achievements of the intern's learning objectives.
- Assigns the final course grade and course credit for the intern weighing the sponsor's evaluation, the intern's assignments and class participation.
