The Biology Department offers programs
which promote student understanding of fundamental concepts in a
wide-range of biological disciplines as well as hands-on experience
through laboratory research and internship opportunities.
We believe that students need both theoretical and practical experience
as preparation for careers involving animal and plant physiology,
developmental biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology,
immunology, ecology and biotechnology.
Our curriculum prepares students for graduate
study in biology in such areas as allied health careers, medicine,
dentistry, veterinary science and genetic engineering as well as
employment in government, university, hospital and commercial laboratories.
Student/Faculty Interaction
Because we are a relatively small college, we can provide meaningful
interaction with students both inside and outside of class. Students
are involved in faculty research through the Independent Learning
experience in their senior year and are often co-authors on papers
and presentations at scientific meetings. |
