New England Conservatory
Performance studies and theoretical subjects regularly offered at
the New England Conservatory may be elected for credit by qualified
students.
Under the provisions of an interinstitutional
agreement between the New England Conservatory and Simmons College,
duly enrolled students at Simmons College may elect to include in
their programs for full credit certain courses normally offered
by the conservatory, subject to certain specified conditions, the
details of which should be obtained from the registrars office.
A Simmons student who wishes to pursue a course at the conservatory
must be recommended by
the music faculty to the registrar. The student will then be referred
to the New England Conservatory, which reserves the right to determine
whether prerequisites for the course in question have been met and
whether the student is fully qualified to pursue the course elected.
The
Simmons Chorale
Sharon
Brown, director
The Simmons Chorale is a twenty- to thirty-voice womens chorus
open to all women in the Simmons community, including undergraduate,
graduate, and continuing education students, as well as faculty
and staff. Auditions are held in September and January, and rehearsals
take place twice weekly.
The chorale prepares two programs each year, performing
at least one major concert at the end of each semester. The repertoire
includes classical music written for womens voices from the
Renaissance to the twentieth century. Some choral singing experience
is helpful but not necessary. |
