Located along the Magdalena River and known as the "Golden Gate to Colombia," Barranquilla is a lively and cosmopolitan Caribbean port city in northern Colombia. The city hosts the Carnaval de Barranquilla - one of the biggest carnivals in the world. With "eternal summer" weather and a laidback Caribbean vibe, Barranquilla is a diverse, unique and vibrant city.

Host Institution: The ISA program at Universidad del Norte offers a wide selection of courses in Spanish, as well as Business and Latin American studies courses in English. UniNorte is a U.S. style campus, filled with lush green spaces and the occasional passing iguana. Students will have the opportunity to take classes alongside local students, undertake original research with UniNorte faculty, and Service-Learning in the community. The program also offers excursions to the colonial city of Cartagena, the beaches of Tayrona National Park, and the Amazon jungle.

Majors*: Ideal for Computer Science, Finance, Business Management, Marketing, and Sociology majors. For students with an advanced level of Spanish, it would also be ideal for Biology, Chemistry, Philosophy, English, and Art History majors

Housing*: Family homestay accommodation or apartments with other US students on the program.

Requirements: Minimum 3.0 GPA. No previous Spanish is necessary for this program, however it is strongly recommended that students who have not completed at least one semester of college-level Spanish enroll in a language course during the program.
