Study in Rabat, Morocco and Granada, Spain: two locations touched by the sprawling, vibrant culture and history of the Moorish empire!

Host Institution: Go to two locations in one semester! Through the multi-location Rabat/Granada program Simmons students can explore the intersection between Western Europe and the Muslim World. Visit the last capital of the Moorish empire in Spain as well as the heart of the empire in Morocco, and discover how these countries’ interwoven historical experiences have affected them today. This program offers two required core courses - Contemporary Issues in Arab-Western Intersections and The Role of Mass Media and Social Media in Political Transformation in the Arab World - and two additional electives, one in each city. Course-related excursions and field trips are designed to enrich your studies. Accepted students will also take a basic survival language workshop in each location. These non-credit workshops will get your Arabic and Spanish language skills up to speed, so you’re able to confidently engage with Rabat and Granada.

Majors*: Ideal for History, Political Science, International Relations, Sociology, and Africana studies majors. IES Rabat/Morroco offers coursework that fulfills most Key Content Areas (KCAs).

Housing*: Students reside in homestay accommodation within commuting distance of campus in both cities.

Requirements: Minimum 3.0 GPA.
