The Office of Undergraduate Advising is available to assist with questions regarding all majors and programs. All first-year students will be assigned a PLAN Advisor. A complete list of all PLAN Advisors and their contact information can be found below. If you are unsure about who you've been assigned to for advising, please contact Undergraduate Advising at 617-521-2474 or stop by the office in the Center for Student Success, Ground Floor, Lefavour Hall.

Cindy Firestein comes to Simmons College with over ten years of experience working in higher education. She began her professional career working at Bridgewater State University (BSU) within the office of Residence Life and Housing for several years before obtaining an Academic Counselor position within the Academic Advising Office at BSU. Since leaving BSU, Cindy has worked in academic and career advising positions at such institutions as Wheaton College, University of North Florida, Jewish Vocational Services (JVS) and Northeastern University. Cindy is actively involved in NACADA-- the Global Community for Academic Advising, as the NACADA Region 1 - UnConference Co-Chair. During down time, she enjoys volunteering, spending time with family, trying new restaurants and traveling.
Talia Hirsh, M.A.

Talia Hirsh came to Simmons in 2015 as an academic advisor. In 2012, Talia began her career in advising at Brandeis University, where she helped to coordinate the peer advising program and transitional year program. Talia piloted the Simmons Academic Mentor (SAMs) program at Simmons and is especially passionate about peer advising. She has a Masters Degree in Sociology from Brandeis University. Outside of Simmons, Talia enjoys spending time with her daughter, husband and dog, Gadget! If time provides, she also loves enjoying a good book and catching a Broadway show!

Sara Squeglia, M.A.

Sara Squeglia began her career in higher education as an Undergraduate Admissions Counselor at the University of New Haven, where she found a true passion for working with and for all students. During her graduate study, Sara explored the field of advising through various positions including Pre-Health Advising at Brandeis University, the Academic Advising Center at Boston College, and the Sexual Assault Network (SANet) at Boston College. She came to Simmons in 2016. When she is not on campus, Sara is usually exploring hidden neighborhoods in Boston, scouting out delicious restaurants and taking photos of every single morsel, or driving all over New England in search of the perfect beach.

Amanda Chapman, M.Ed.

Amanda Chapman joined Simmons in June 2018 and is so excited to be working as an academic advisor with a focus in supporting our student-athletes. She became passionate about advising during her time at UMass Amherst where she held many advising roles. Outside of work, Amanda enjoys baking cupcakes, trying out new recipes, going to the beach and teaching Kick It By Eliza!

Cayce Jones, M.A.

Cayce Jones is passionate about supporting students at all levels, and is excited to work with the nursing program at Simmons. He is a patient, active-listener, first and foremost. Cayce is an advocate and ally for all students. He's particularly passionate about issues related to gender in higher education, autism awareness and mental health. He rowed for Boston College Men's Crew for four fantastic years. Cayce has worked with student mentors and financial literacy programs. He most recently was a high school mathematics and life skills teacher. His spirit animal is a seahorse, according to multiple online quizzes.  His Myers-Briggs type is INFJ.

Danielle Peralta, M.Ed.

Danielle Peralta is one of our newest academic advisors who is extremely excited to start working with the Exercise Science and Nutrition students! She started her career in higher education during her time as an undergraduate student in Orlando, FL. Through internships she has advised First-Year students and Psychology students and while in graduate school at BU, she planned and coordinated events for Education majors and also interned in the Career Services Office at Emerson College. As a proud first-generation college student herself, Danielle works hard to ensure students feel welcome and comfortable to approach her as an advisor and an ally. When she isn’t working the ol’ “9 to 5”, Danielle enjoys going to concerts, traveling, watching every TV show and movie ever, and spending time with her wonderful friends.

Sara Purisky, M.S.

A double Simmons alum, Sara Purisky is thrilled to continue serving her alma mater! She joins the Undergraduate Advising team after working two years in Undergraduate Admission at Simmons. During her undergraduate career, Sara developed a passion for higher education, serving as a Campus Ambassador and Admission Fellow. Since then, she's served as the Campus Visit Coordinator, ensuring that prospective students and families have the opportunity to learn what makes the Simmons Community special. Sara graduated with her Masters in Management from Simmons.  Outside of Simmons, Sara can be found learning a new musical theater piece in her voice lessons or making friends with every dog on the streets of Boston.

Takeya Lee, M.S.

Takeya Lee discovered her passion for higher education while studying at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) in North Adams, MA. During her undergraduate years, she worked as an assistant in the Academic Affairs and Student Affairs office. Upon graduation, Takeya worked as a member services representative at a non-profit health insurance company in MA. Within a year, she rediscovered her passion for higher education by joining a non for profit college outside of Boston. She now continues her passion for servicing the higher education community at Simmons College as the Administrative Assistant for the offices of Undergraduate Advising and Disability Services. Outside of Simmons, Takeya enjoys spending time with her family, enjoying the beauty of Boston and the occasional bowling adventure.

Dix Scholar Nursing Advising

Incoming and current Dix Scholar Nursing students receive advising from the School of Nursing and Health Sciences.

Simmons PLAN Advisors (2018-2019)

First-year students are assigned to a Simmons PLAN Advisor for their first year at Simmons. PLAN Advisors are a mix of faculty and professional advisors who are trained on PLAN requirements and are well-versed on all majors and programs offered at Simmons. First-year students receive an email from their PLAN advisor before June Orientation.


First-year students enrolled in the Honors program will be assigned to a PLAN Advisor who is well-versed on the Honors-specific curriculum. First-year students enrolled in both the Honors program and the School of Nursing and Health Sciences will be assigned a PLAN Advisor who is also well-versed on specific SNHS program requirements.
