A senior officer with Boston Scientific will speak on courage, integrity and holding to one's principles as crucial choices in a business career, during the Aug. 4 commencement ceremonies for the Simmons School of Management, the nation's only business school designed for women.
Lucia Luce Quinn, executive vice president of Boston Scientific and chair of the Simmons Board of Trustees, will speak before nearly 100 MBA graduates at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel, 64 Arlington Street.
Boston Scientific is the world leader in the development, manufacturing, and marketing of medical devices that advance the practice of less-invasive medicine. Quinn joined Boston Scientific in 2005 as executive vice president of human resources, with responsibility for human resources policies and programs across the company. Quinn is a member of Boston Scientific's Executive Committee.
Previously, Quinn was senior vice president at Quest Diagnostics Inc., a provider of diagnostic testing, information, and services. She was responsible for a portfolio of businesses with approximately $1 billion in revenue, and for directing investments, acquisitions, product development and key customer contracts.
She also held a variety of leadership positions at Honeywell, Westinghouse, Digital Equipment Corp., Compaq and AlliedSignal.
Quinn graduated from Simmons College with a B.A. in Management in 1975. She is an overseer of the Museum of Science in Boston; a member of The Committee of 200, a group of leading businesswomen; and a director of QMed, Inc., a medical information and disease management service firm.
The Simmons School of Management (www.simmons.edu/som) has nearly 3,000 MBA alumnae who manage and lead across a wide spectrum of business enterprises, from Fortune 500 companies to entrepreneurial ventures. The School of Management has also trained nearly 3,000 businesswomen around the country in its executive education programs.
