» press releaseAnnual Girls Conference Focuses on Empowerment and Leadership May 10 at Simmons College BOSTON (April 29, 2003) - Simmons College will host the annual leadership conference designed for girls between the ages of 13 and 18 living in the Greater Boston area, Saturday, May 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Simmons College, in the 3rd floor Conference Center, at 300 The Fenway. Organized by G.I.R.L.S. - Growing Individuals Reacting to Life's Struggles æ the day offers attendees the opportunity to participate in workshops and group discussions that deal with risk-taking, self-empowerment, leadership, and community service. Brandy K. Cruthird, founder and owner of Body by Brandy Fitness Studio in Dudley Square, will serve as the guest speaker. ACTION awards will be presented to girls who have made significant contributions in their neighborhoods through community service and peer leadership. The event is sponsored by the Simmons Institute of Leadership and Change, the Patriots’ Trail Girl Scouts Council, and the Girls’ Coalition of Greater Boston.
