» press releaseAward Winning Feminist Author To Speak April 14 At Simmons College BOSTON (April 3, 2003)— Nationally acclaimed author and poet Marge Piercy will present her works on Monday, April 14 at 7:00 p.m. in the Main College Building, Rm. C103 at Simmons College, 300 The Fenway. The event is free and open to the public. A reception and book signing will follow the reading. Award winning novelist, essayist, and poet Marge Piercy is best known for her fiction with a feminist slant. Her writing stems from a political commitment that began in the 1960s with the Vietnam anti-war movement. Piercy will read from some of her earlier works, such as Small Changes and Woman on the Edge of Time, in addition to her latest novel, He, She, and It. Like her novels, her poetry explores feminism and feminity. Marge Piercy received her BA from the University of Michigan and an MA from Northwestern. Piercy is the recipient of more than 15 awards and honors including the Patterson Poetry Prize, and the Sheaffer-PEN/New England Award for Library Excellence.
