» press releaseSimmons College Professor Named President-Elect of the National Association of Social Workers board of directors BOSTON (August 13, 2002) - Gary Bailey, the Eva Whiting White Visiting Professor and Scholar at Simmons College School of Social Work, was recently named president-elect of the National Association of Social Worker’s (NASW) Board of Directors. Bailey recently completed his two-year term as national NASW second vice president, during which he chaired the Membership and Chapter Coordinating Committee. In addition, he served as the NASW’s national treasurer from 1995-1997 and president of the Massachusetts Chapter from 1993-1995. In 1998 Bailey was named chapter and national Social Worker of the Year. Founded in 1957, the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) is the largest organization of professional social workers in the world, with more than 155,000 members in 55 chapters. The highly acclaimed Simmons College School of Social Work is the first school of social work in the nation affiliated with an institution of higher learning. |
