Women and Politics in Massachusetts: How Do They Get Ahead?
Mass. Women's Political Caucus Features Women Political Leaders Jan.12 at Simmons College

BOSTON (Jan. 7, 2002)--Politically active women from across the Commonwealth will gather at Simmons College Sat., Jan. 12, to learn first-hand about the personal challenges faced by women political leaders in their climb to the top.

The Massachusetts Women's Political Caucus 2002 convention is from 9 a.m. to noon in the Conference Center of Simmons College at 300 The Fenway, Boston. It will feature a panel discussion at 10:00 a.m. by three women legislators discussing their personal histories and challenges, followed by a question and answer session.

Panelists are Sen. Harriet Chandler, D-Worcester; Sen. Jo Ann Sprague, R-Walpole; and Rep. Marie St. Fleur, D-Dorcester. The meeting is co-hosted by the Simmons Institute for Leadership and Change. Renee Loth, Boston Globe editorial page editor, will deliver the keynote address at 9:30 a.m.

The Massachusetts Women's Political Caucus is a multi-partisan grassroots organization founded 30 years ago to maximize the participation of women in the political process, and to increase the number of women appointed and elected to public office and public policy positions at all levels of government.
