» press releaseDangers and Risks of Global War Focus of Simmons College Summit BOSTON (September 30, 2002) - Simmons College will host a conference Oct. 11-12, that will bring experts together to explore peaceful and just alternatives to the escalating tension in the world since the events of Sept. 11, 2001, with special emphasis on the United States' potential war against Iraq. The conference, "Paths to a Just and Secure Future: Resisting Washington's Endless War," will be held in the Main College Building at Simmons College, 300 The Fenway. Hours are 6 to 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 11, and 8:15 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 12. Seats are available to the public at $30 on a first-come, first served basis. To register, call 617-661-6130. The symposium will feature keynote speeches, panels, and workshops to examine the war on terrorism's domestic and international consequences, clarify dangers posed by the war in key regions, and offer models for organizing that prove alternatives to war.
