Support and SafetyThroughout the weeks following the tragedy, members of the student life staff reached out to all undergraduate and graduate students from the Middle East, and have met with the Muslim Student Association, and worked closely with students who have direct connections to the victims and/or missing persons in both New York and Washington. These are very stressful times for many of our students, and they have been reassured that the College is available to assist them in any ways we can. Friends and family members can assist in this effort by contacting the Student Life Office if you are concerned about a student. As an added security precaution, the perimeter of the Residence Campus is being secured on the weekends. Although there have not been any alarming incidents on the campus, we are aware that the social activities in the Fenway area are different on weekends than during the week and want to add an extra level of security for our students. Also, at some times of day, the Department of Public Safety has increased its presence on the residence campus. Thanks to so many of you who have responded to the postings on this page with your good thoughts to all of us at Simmons. We appreciate your help and support and are greatly comforted by knowing that you are working alongside us as we try to help our students and colleagues make some meaning out of these terrible circumstances.
