Speak Friday, Aug. 3 BOSTON (July 13, 2001) - Gail Snowden, executive vice president and managing director of FleetBoston Financials Community Banking Group, will speak Friday, Aug. 3 at commencement ceremonies for the Simmons Graduate School of Management (GSM). Snowden, who has more than 32 years of banking experience, is an advocate for community investment, including providing broader access to financial services for inner-city residents, women, and minorities. She will reflect on her post-MBA career and her extensive experience in banking. The ceremonies will begin at 10 a.m. Aug. 3 at the Fine Arts Center of Regis College, 235 Wellesley St., Weston (Note to reporters: the Regis Fine Arts Center is being used because it has an air- conditioned facility large enough to accommodate the many friends and family members who will attend the ceremony. Snowden, a 1978 MBA graduate of the Simmons GSM, will address 95 students receiving their MBA degrees from the GSM, which is the only business school in the world designed specifically for women. A member of FleetBoston Financials Leadership Advisory Group, Snowden directs and invests the banks resources into low- and moderate-income communities through innovative financial services, wealth, and equity programs focused on meeting the needs of inner-city residents and women-owned and minority businesses throughout New England. Snowden also oversees the Community Reinvestment Act regulatory unit for the entire FleetBoston Financial organization, and is responsible for developing strategy and monitoring performance around economic growth and community development in urban and rural areas. Snowden, a 1967 graduate of Harvard/Radcliffe College, is a 31-year veteran of BankBoston, and is active in numerous professional associations and civic groups. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including honorary doctorates from Simmons College, Bridgewater State College, Babson College, Emmanuel College; and the YWCA 1996 Academy of Women Achievers Award. She has received the YWCA Black Achievers Award, the New England Womens Leadership Award, and was named one of the nations Top Business and Professional Women by Dollars and Sense magazine in 1993. The Simmons Graduate School of Management, founded a quarter of a century ago, is dedicated to the education of women for positions of power and leadership. |
