A story about Simmons alumna Gwen Ifill serving as moderator for the vice presidential debate ran in newspapers and on TV stations nationwide, including the Wall Street Journal's Market Watch website Aug. 7, and the Boston Globe "Names" column Aug. 8.

Simmons's ranking as one of Princeton Review's "Best 368 Colleges"  was announced nationwide on TV stations and in newspapers, business journals, and websites.

Simmons School of Management Professor Deborah Kolb was interviewed in a July 21 Forbes.com story on "How to Bargain at Retail." She provided several tips for haggling prices on apparel and accessories, at a time when retailers are more motivated to move merchandise because of the economy.

The Aug. 6 issue of Financial Times mentioned the Simmons School of Management's plans to launch an MBA ethics program for both undergrads and MBA students. The program is based on Giving Voice to Values, a program developed by Mary Gentile, a former Harvard Business School academic.

Trustee Regina Pisa's Simmons School of Management commencement address  was featured in the Aug. 9 Boston Globe's "Names" column, including a photo and a few excepts from her speech.

Simmons's "cups to cleaners" was mentioned in a July 29 Boston Globe article about environmentally friendly initiatives on college campuses.

Education Professor Nina Senatore provided tips in a July 22 Associated Press article on making the most of "back-to-school night," a chance for parents to ask questions to prepare their children for the coming school year.  The article was published in Education Week, the Aug. 5 Winona (MN) Daily News, and many other publications nationwide.

Health Care Administration Professor John Lowe was interviewed in a July 18 Boston Business Journal story about the increase in insurers linking reimbursements to outcomes. Lowe, chair of the board of Emerson Hospital in Concord, spoke about the role of board members in encouraging clinical changes to improve quality and prevent errors.

Political Science and International Relations Chair Zach Abuza  was quoted in a July 19 The Straits Times story on Thailand's ceasefire announcement by leaders of 11 separatist groups. The article also references Abuza's blog comments about the announcement. The Straits Times, is one of Singapore's oldest English-language daily newspapers.  Abuza also was quoted in a July 24 Middle East Times reprint of a UPI article about the deradicalization (rehabilitation) of jailed Islamic extremists.

Physical Therapy Professor Shelley Goodgold and her backpack study were referenced on newsnet5.com (WEWS-TV, Cleveland) and in the Aug. 5 Asheville (NC) Citizen Times in a back-to-school story warning against heavy backpacks.

Education professor Lyndy Johnson was quoted in a July 22 Boston Globe article on the nurturing role of kindergarten teachers.

Simmons Graduate School of Library and Information Science Professor Amy Pattee was quoted in an Aug. 2 Los Angeles Times article about book publisher Alloy Entertainment and the novels' focus on commercialization.

Barbara O'Brien, director of the Trustman Art Gallery, was quoted in a July 23 Boston Phoenix story about the Peabody Essex Museum's transformation and increased popularity.

Simmons Graduate School of Library and Information Science Professor Camila Alire received mention in the August issue of Computers in Libraries for becoming the new president-elect of the American Library Association in July.

Basketball Coach Tony Price was interviewed live on the "Focus on Empowerment" show airing on WBNW-AM in Boston, Aug. 8. Price discussed his blog, "The Darker Shade of Sports,". The show was simulcast online and was rebroadcast Aug. 9 and 10.

A July 31 Boston Globe story about student loan lenders mentioned Simmons College as an institution that hasn't listed the Mass. Educational Financing Authority (MEFA) among its recommended lenders.

Alumna Wendy Campanella Tripician was profiled in the Needham Times Aug. 6 after winning the bronze in the Women's Lightweight Quadruple Sculls on the final day of the 2008 FISA World Rowing Championships in July in Austria.

The August issue of Pink magazine included the Simmons School of Management  in its list of "Women-Friendly MBA Programs."

The College's $2 million Dotson nursing grant  was announced in the July 22 Boston Business Journal.
