The Jan. 22 Washington Post quoted Health Care Administration Research Professor Robert Coulam's writings from a study on U.S. interrogation he co-authored with the Intelligence Science Board. The study examined several aspects of interrogation and found that no research has been conducted in more than 40 years about the effectiveness of U.S. interrogation techniques.

Associate Professor of International Relations Zach Abuza was quoted in a Jan. 25 Time magazine article titled "The Philippines' Unending Guerrilla War."  Abuza also was quoted in a Jan. 22 Qatar Peninsula article about U.S. support in the fight against rebel group Abu Sayyaf. The newspaper is Qatar's leading English daily.

Simmons School of Management Professor Mary Shapiro was interviewed for the New England Cable News show Wired. Shapiro spoke about the recent School of Management study about women's use of flexible work arrangements to maintain full-time work. The same School of Management study was main topic of the Jan. 28 Boston Sunday Globe's popular "Balancing Acts" column, which also quoted Shapiro, and has continued to receive coverage in a variety of national and international outlets, including the Australian, a major newspaper based in Sydney; The Chicago Tribune; Women's enews; and Wall Street Journal.com.

Africana Studies Professor Janie Ward was quoted in the Jan. 21 issue of The Boston Globe Magazine, in an article about the increase in cosmetic surgery among minorities who want to appear less ethnic.

The Simmons School of Management Certificate in Entrepreneurship program was featured in a Jan. 24 Boston Phoenix article on Boston-area universities that added "twists to traditional programs to equip students for the global society" they'll soon be joining. Dean Deborah Merrill-Sands, Elizabeth J. McCandless Professor of Entrepreneurship Teresa Nelson, and student Amanda Thomas were interviewed.

Education and Africana Studies Professor Theresa Perry was quoted in the Jan. 29 Boston Globe about the search for Boston's new school superintendent.

Findings by the Simmons School of Health Studies Senior Research Associate Patricia Keith-Spiegel were quoted in a Jan. 17 Nature article about scientific misconduct, such as fabricating data.

Deborah Marlino, professor of marketing at the Simmons School of Management , was quoted in The Boston Globe's January 15 article, "The Snob Within," which explored the societal trend of luxury living and "premium goods" marketing.

Undergraduate Management Program
Coordinator Linda Valenti was one of four "hard-core" fans interviewed about the new season of the TV series 24 in the Jan. 15 Boston Globe Living/Arts section. Retired Professor of Marketing Cathy Hurst also was interviewed.

The Simmons Library's MassBLAST internship program for underrepresented high school students was featured in a Jan. 8 Greenfield (Mass.) Recorder article.
