About SimmonsLeadershipProvostSponsored ProgramsStudent Travel and Research Funds
Funds have been made available to support the conference travel and research endeavors of both undergraduate and graduate students. Click on the program titles below to learn more about these opportunities.
The Simmons College Student Research Fund supports student-initiated scholarly research and creative endeavors. Students may apply for grants of up to $1,000 to support their independent research projects in all academic disciplines. These grants are competitive and awards will be made based on the quality of the proposed work. Students must work under the guidance of a faculty advisor. Proposals will be reviewed by the Fund for Research Committee. It is expected that 8-10 grants may be awarded during each year.
Grants will be awarded based on the significance and feasibility of the research and its relevance to the student's academic experience. Students are expected to develop this proposal with the guidance of their research advisor.
When demand exceeds available funding, an effort is made to fund proposals from as many different fields of study as possible and from students who have not already completed a research project funded the Student Research Fund.
Grant recipients must submit a final report to the Fund for Research Committee, upon completion of the project.

The Simmons College Student Travel Award competition provides financial support to undergraduate and graduate students who are attending and presenting research at academic or professional conferences. Students must be recommended by their faculty advisors/departments to receive such awards. Preference will be given to those who are making a presentation. In cases where the applicant will not be presenting, the student statement and faculty letter of recommendation should address the importance of attendance for the student's professional development. Preference is given to students who have not previously received a Student Travel Grant.
A limited amount of funding is available to award each semester. Awards are contingent upon the availability of funds and the number of applications. The committee will award up to $500 per application, with most awards in the $300 range, even though the cost of attending the conference may exceed that amount. Preference is given to students who have not previously received a Student Travel Grant. Students are encouraged to apply according to their financial need.
