Accreditation

Simmons University is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (formerly the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc.).

Accreditation of an institution of higher education by the Commission indicates that it meets or exceeds criteria for the assessment of institutional quality periodically applied through a peer review process. An accredited college or university is one which has available the necessary resources to achieve its stated purposes through appropriate educational programs, is substantially doing so, and gives reasonable evidence that it will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. Institutional integrity is also addressed through accreditation.

Accreditation by the Commission is not partial but applies to the institution as a whole. As such, it is not a guarantee of every course or program offered, or the competence of individual graduates. Rather, it provides reasonable assurance about the quality of opportunities available to students who attend the institution.

The Masters program in Behavior Analysis in the College of Natural, Behavioral, and Health Sciences is accredited by the Association for Behavior Analysis International.

The School of Library and Information Science's Masters program in Library and Information Science is accredited by the American Library Association Committee on Accreditation.

The baccalaureate degree program in nursing, master's degree program in nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Simmons University are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street, NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202-887-6791 (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org). The Simmons University Nursing Program is fully approved by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.

The Nutrition programs at Simmons University is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

The Physical Therapy programs at Simmons University is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).

CEPH SealThe bachelor's and master's programs in Public Health at Simmons University are accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). Copies of Simmons' Public Health self-study are available by emailing the Office of the Dean of the College of Social Sciences, Policy, and Practice

The School of Business is accredited by AACSB-International, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

The BSW and MSW degrees of the School of Social Work are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education's Committee on Accreditation.
