Writing support is offered in 3 ways:
- face-to face sessions on campus at the Burns Peer Tutoring Center;
- phone sessions; or
- online where students receive feedback via email.
- address your writing concerns whether you are writing your first college paper or completing a graduate thesis; and
- are trained to work with the writing of native as well as non-native speakers and offer support for the full writing process: reading, planning, drafting, revising, citing, and self-editing.
Our philosophy is that students "own" their papers. We believe that the best way to help students is to guide them in the process of thoughtfully thinking about their papers.

The Writing Center has been extremely helpful with my personal statements for graduate school. I truly believe that the help I received played a big part in my acceptance to a PhD program. The staff is always generous with their time and gives extremely helpful advice. It's great to have other people look at your work before you submit it, but it's also wise to have people who do it on a regular basis look over it, as well. I highly recommend visiting the Writing Center - and best of all, it's FREE!!! (B.Y.)
Each time I went to the writing center, I learned something new. Not only did the tutors help me improve my writing skills, they also provided me with the encouragement and support I needed to be able to confidently and independently write future papers. The writing center is a great place. (P.S.)
The writing skills of the Simmons student tutors helped me immeasurably as I navigated the written expression of my scientific presentation the Nursing Doctoral Capstone. This hidden gem of a resource should not be missed or dismissed!! (M.F.)
